I have a secret for you: do it yourself investors can invest (almost) exactly like Buffett. By piggybacking on Buffett’s quarterly filings, investors can build a winning portfolio by buying what he’s buying. And it works pretty well — a paper devoted to the subject found that investors imitating Buffett could come pretty close to getting the same fat returns he does.
I thought it would be interesting then to compile a 2012 list of the best investors in history because, hey, imitating them is an awesome form of flattery (and in many cases, profits, too).
